Warmth for the shelterless in Dhaka
Amidst the chill of winter, the streets of Dhaka are home to many who lack shelter and warmth. On January 2, 2024, volunteers from the WIDE ANGLE Foundation took to the streets to extend a helping hand to those in need.
Armed with blankets and compassion, our volunteers visited roadsides, railway stations, and bus stops across the city, seeking out the most vulnerable among us. One such encounter took place at a bus stop in Gulistan, where a man in his early 60s sat alone, shivering in the cold. With a gesture of kindness, a WIDE ANGLE volunteer approached him and wrapped a blanket around his shoulders.
The gratitude in the man’s eyes spoke volumes, a silent acknowledgment of the warmth and comfort he had received. It is moments like these that remind us of the importance of compassion and human connection.
As Founder & Executive Director of the WIDE ANGLE Foundation, Humayun Kabir, aptly puts it, “These are the kind of people we meet when we are out on the street. We want to distribute blankets and winter wear to those who need them the most, and there are many such people out there.”
Our volunteers remain committed to making a difference in the lives of Dhaka’s homeless population, one blanket at a time. Join us in spreading warmth and compassion this winter.
